Support Group members on a closed group on Facebook they use ahigh-protection sunblock (factor 85 or above) I also use Dermablend which has spf in it to!Sunblock application should be applied to all areas sensitive to sun as well as exposed to sun. Some sunblocks are available on NHS prescription. Wearing Sunglasses,Wear a wide-brimmed hat, Long-sleeved clothing. See below:.

I met a lady, who was a customer at Honda service department yesterday! I immediately saw her hands. She told me she’s in her sixties. She told me her “vit” started about 4 years ago in combination of having thyroid issues. It took four years for it to cover from her neck go down. She thought she had gotten infected with something from the nail salon in the beginning. Now she knows what she has is vitiligo. In the end she said I have had a great life. That thought stayed with me. Life should not stop with having vitiligo. Vitiligo is a blessing! *Another important test is checking your thyroid function!

A couple of years ago a nutritionist in New York recommended to me that I get tested for Vitamin D, 1, 25 Hydroxy deficiency. I asked her is this a regular test that screens anytime I get my blood work done? She said no. She recommended this because her brother had vitiligo to and his Vitamin D panel was low. So the next time you are at the doctor, ask your doctor to check your Vitamin D, 1, 25 Hydroxy. When I did check my Vitamin D, 1, 25 Hydroxy it was very low. I figure it was low because I had just given birth. But check it out! 1. Pray & Meditate-Let go and let God handle all your burdens.

For example my friend at the time who is now my husband used to write our problems in the sand. When the waves washed away the writing in the sand our problems were gone. (Creative Visualization).

2. Exercise-walking and eventually get to a running stage for at least 30 minutes can give you a natural high. A feeling of well being.

3. Me Time-Create a sanctuary in your home. For me it’s my bathroom. I like to shower in almost hot water, where the bathroom steams up. I splash my favorite oil so that the bathroom smells great and enjoy my shower.

4. Think Positive-Before you could think or say something negative replace it with a positive thought or action.

5. No worrying don’t sweat the small stuff-Live in the now, the present.

6. Relaxation-Listening to my favorite music, going for manicure and pedicure. (I’m going to look into some devotional music soon).

7. Eating healthy!

8. Colonics-The process is uncomfortable but the end result is great.

I began to ponder!

Mother Goose Nursery Rhyme

What are little girls made of?

Sugar and spice,

And everything nice,

That's what little girls are made of.

IS YOUR MARK YOUR GIFT FROM GOD?

DOES HE WANT TO SEE HOW YOU USE IT?

Surely making your mark is something you create and is everlasting.

But what if your mark chose you and it cannot be erased?

Do you hide in the closet or sweep it under a rug like a hidden secret because it’s not acceptable to others because it’s a mark that other people cannot relate to?

Do you deny it mentally?

Or

Do you just strengthen yourself and build your self esteem to a place where the mark does not bother you.

I was not born with this mark on my skin.

In my early 20’s my mark chose me. But what was beautiful about this mark was it slowly developed, almost giving me time to deal with it.

My mark moved all over my body and started with my hands, this affected for a moment how I would hold things (the mind body connection and confidence).

I got over that with a comfort thought that there are people in the world doing more than me with missing limbs and senses. Then early 2009 my mark came on my face. The hardest thing for me deep down inside was being rejected by my husband. I liked makeup to enhance. Now I had to go a step more and cover-up the mark on my face. It almost felt suffocating. Who was I hiding from? What is all of this? Who was I becoming? I started going out in public without make up on my face. It was apparent that people have not seen this before. Some people try not to stare and make eye contact.

Now, depending on how I feel, I fluctuate between makeup or no makeup. The funny thing is my husband is a photographer who is very much into how things appear. Almost ironic! Funny thing is his emotions seem to be unchanged.

How do I deal with all of this you ask? Faith! The unseen! I thank God for knowing God at an early age because people with this skin disorder can choose to be destructive, the other unseen is the power of positivity. Thanks to being raised by a positive family, primarily my mother and further readings on self help. Coincidence I don't know! All I know it is destiny how things unfold.

There is so much beauty in being positive and it is very easy to be negative when you have influencing factors such as friends, media etc.

This mark I wear and I see in the mirror is a blessing in disguise. It has given me purpose to be a purpose. This mark is Vitiligo!

The important thing is how God sees you.

I have seen this before but did not read the whole section. I think this makes reference to how they treated skin conditions where the skin was turning white.

The priest wanted to determine if you had leprosy or I guess a modern day skin fungus or as we know it to day vitiligo which is a disorder in the skin. Leviticus Chapter 13 shows how the priest acted as a doctor to shut up or keep the person with leprosy in a closed area until the person became clean. The priest also was able to determine that if the person turned all white they were clean.

My suggestion is to check with a dermatologist about your options of depigmenting your skin. And always, always, always ask about the side effects. Most times, its the sun you have to worry about when you remove the melanin in your skin because of easy burning.

Yeah! That's how I feel when I make a V connection.

Hopefully he connects with the group. He had vitiligo on part of his face and most of his arms and guess what he said with time it covered over. That's why I say mind of its own. Or do we have a mental switch. The key is finding that button.

I get asked this question many times in my son's daycare center by little 3 year olds. What is that? Does it hurt? How can I explain about vitiligo to them? I tell them this, always remember to wear your sun block. When I was proctoring a class for my daughter's school about 3 years ago there was a little girl who saw my hands and did not want me to come close to her. She shrugged her shoulder and by physical communication said don't touch me. I thought how rude. But this is just an automatic response for the fear of the unknown. How many of us take for granted going thru the drive thru or going to the grocery store and paying with cash? Just a thought!
• Okay! So far vitiligo is an autoimmune disorder that affects the skin’s pigment cells.

• It does not physically hurt and it is does not spread person to person.

• Vitiligo can cause a feeling of low self esteem, self worth, and depression. Why? People with vitiligo experience more attention than anyone else if their vitiligo is noticeable. People who don’t have vitiligo think they can catch it. This is sometimes the painful part of vitiligo.

o Key to dealing with vitiligo emotionally:

o Educate yourself on the disorder so the next time you are approached or looked at strangely use that as an opportunity to educate the person looking at you.

o Build your self esteem

o Surround yourself with supportive people

o Join a support group

o Let your light shine. Be proud. God has a purpose for you!

Well I started taking coconut supplements and using pure coconut on my skin and I started to feel really tired so I decided to look up the side effects of ingesting coconut supplements and this lead me to the book eating for your blood type. It so happened that my blood type is not suppose to eat coconut. The book is great for the historical background on the blood types... Virgin Coconut Oil My New Trial!

I started today using pure coconut oil on my skin which smells delightful. I actually purchased it at Walmart for under $11. I also purchased the coconut oil capsules at a herbal store here in Atlanta. While at the herb store the attendant told me that people may have a thyroid problem and it also tend to affect people who are over weight. I really don't know how much fact exist for her findings. But what I do know is that vitiligo affects people of all different shapes and sizes, somewhat like this economic crisis. But what I found is that lauric acid may be a significant in calming the vitiligo as well as the body temperature.

Hey another tip coconut oil is good for cooking as well as it may shave off those extra pounds around the stomach. Check it out on the web.

I have vitiligo. The hardest thing living with vitiligo is that vitiligo has a mind of its own. You may think you have control over it. But you don't. I believe vitiligo is genetic.

I have tried many applications and a couple of procedures. It does not stop the erase of my melanin. Many people fight for cures for diseases. I think we should find a cure for vitiligo.

I thank my creator for the opportunity for this lifetime. And for the ability to use my hands.
